Victoria’s Secret Come Closer Quad: Review & EOTD

I have to admit, I was astounded by how many of you gravitated to the Victoria’s Secret Come Closer quad in my Summer Collection preview post.  I’ve been so busy falling in love with the bronzers (they impart an unbelievably pretty sheen to my skin) that I may have abandoned the eyeshadows altogether.  Sacrebleu!

Luckily, I finally came to my senses and pulled out Come Closer for today’s EOTD.

The quad comes in a sleek, copper-colored case that practically screams ‘summer!’  I’m not sure whether it’s made of light metal or heavy plastic, but it definitely looks lovely on my vanity (which if you think about it, is really the only thing that matters).  Like all shiny things, the surface is prone to picking up fingerprints.

Inside, there’s a champagne pink, robin’s-egg blue, taupe, and soft white.  The eyeshadows are all Continue reading

Arkenstone Inspired EOTD & Tutorial

It should come as no surprise that I documented the step-by-step for this EOTD.  It’s Tolkien-related.  It’s glorious.  Granted, I have no idea how many of you will actually try this, given that a) it’s neither office nor classroom-friendly and b) I’m 99% sure it’s not even eye safe, but one does not simply post an Arkenstone-inspired EOTD, and leave out the how-to.  Agreed?

EOTD & Tutorial: Dusk

Here I am, making good on my promise to experiment with the aforementioned Dior palette.  It’s ridiculous how color-shy I’ve become; I honed in on the sheerest color duo in the entire set (the purples).  Well, I have to start somewhere, and I’m actually quite pleased with how this turned out, all muted mauvey-browns and faded blues.  As usual, I’ve put together a step-by-step picture tutorial, in case you want to recreate this.  It’s very easy, although there is one step that will probably give some of you pause.  Trust me, it’s not nearly as scary as it sounds.  See how I’m building suspense?

L’oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Sahara Treasure: Review, Swatches, EOTD

I normally don’t do full-blown reviews on gifts, but I was so amazed by the quality of this eyeshadow that I had to grab my camera, and snap some pictures.

Before I get into this, I would like to thank Jian for sending me this UK-exclusive shade, along with other beautiful things and an impressive handmade card as a late birthday-Christmas/early Valentine’s day gift.  Initially, I hesitated to share my thoughts because I know that most of my readers are from the US, but I think the formulation of the product is very similar across the board.  It’s only the shades that differ from country to country, so I hope my review will still be helpful for those of you eyeing the L’oreal Infallible eyeshadows.

Infallible shadows are a cream-powder hybrid, with a texture between a loose and a pressed eyeshadow.  Make sure to keep the plastic stopper that comes in the jar, as it helps compress the product, and keep it from crumbling.  I assume these were created as a drugstore ‘answer’ to the Giorgio Armani ETK and Chanel Illusion d’Ombre shadows.  I don’t Continue reading

Color Revival EOTD & Tutorial

Hm, when was the last time I did one of these?  *rifles through archives*  Ah, May 31, 2011…and the time before that was last January.  Bad beauty blogger.

It’s been a long time since I’ve played with eyeshadow, and I wanted to start with something a little bit colorful.  The first thing I pulled out was my Deluxe Shadow Box from Urban Decay.  I think it was the first palette I ever bought (could be wrong on that one, but at any rate, it’s definitely one of my earliest palette purchases).  From there, I built up the look with some neutrals and (at attempt at) winged liner.

Please keep in mind that I’m out-of-practice!  This isn’t going to be perfect, but I’m slowly working my way back into the EOTD swing :)
