New Beauty Stuffs from Illamasqua: Midnight Edition

Midnight edition, as in ‘none of these beauty stuffs are midnight-related, but I’m writing this past midnight.’

It was a beautiful day filled with macarons & museums (and very good friends), one of the most relaxing I’ve had in awhile.  And as that double shot espresso doesn’t seem to be kicking in, I’ll go ahead and share some Illamasqua news before I nod off.

First of all, a gorgeous new collection that launched less than a week ago in the UK (and available globally starting May 31), aptly named ‘Naked Strangers.  It’s a well-edited array of nudes and metallics.  I’ll give you a moment to gape at these promo images.

(As it turns out, I did nod off, which is why you’re reading this on Sunday instead of Saturday).

First Look: Victoria’s Secret Summer Bronzing Collection

First off, apologies for my absence these past few days, but it has been a long week.  You’ll hear more about it on Monday, along with my teeth-whitening regimen, so get  excited (ok, maybe not the right word).  Woohoo!

The one bright spot on my week was the Victoria’s Secret summer beauty collection, which arrived on my doorstep yesterday.  There’s more product waiting to be photographed, but I thought I’d show you the eyeshadows and bronzers first.

There’s two new Eyeshadow Quads, the first in Eye Contact, full of practical shades and beautiful neutrals.

And then there’s Come Closer, which has a gorgeous robin’s egg blue, along with a taupe, a pink, and a shimmery highlight shade.

There’s also three shades of Pressed Mineral Bronzing Powder (Sunstruck, Bronze Ambition, and Heat Wave), and I have two to show you.

Bronze Ambition is a chocolate-brown color:

Sunstruck, which I’m wearing right now, is a glowy, tawny gold.  Not at all orange.  Definitely Makeup Morsels approved.

And in other news, the brand has hopped on the Pinterest bandwagon lately.

Hope your weekend is humming along nicely so far.  Is there anything here you’d like me to review right away?

New in Beauty: Illamasqua Casting Call & Ellis Faas’ 7 Shade Launch

‘New’ might be pushing it a little, since I occasionally let things percolate in my inbox before releasing them into the wild world of beauty.  ’New-ish in Beauty’ just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

A couple of noteworthy beauty updates this weekend, so let’s dive right into it!

Beauty Before Age

First off, Illamasqua is doing a casting call, and there are 2 days left to nominate someone (or yourself, if you’d like!).  The campaign is a celebration of diversity and age.

We are looking for beauty without limits – age limits, beauty has no sell-by date. That’s why our new campaign will feature people of all ages.  Our professional products and brand ethos are transcendent of age; anyone can self-express, be empowered and feel beautiful with bold make-up.

As well as individuals, Illamasqua is looking for pairs – from mothers, fathers, sons and daughters, nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles, grandmothers and grandsons.

Nominate yourself or someone else at www.illamasqua.com/beauty-before-age before May 15.  If chosen, you and/or that person need to be available to attend an open casting mid-May 2012, and be part of the London shoot on May 23-24.  The competition is open internationally, and all those featured in the campaign will receive £500 cash, a new Illamasqua make-up kit worth £500 and a framed photo of themselves.

Spring Scents From Victoria’s Secret

It seems like the most pointless thing ever, but I always light scented candles and wear perfume when I’m sick.  But why, you ask, you can’t even smell anything.  Yes, that is definitely true.  And I’m rarely cognizant enough to appreciate pretty scents while I’m battling a cold anyways, so really, why do it?

Because….because…somewhere in the depths of my poor muddled mind, I associate pleasing scents with blissful relaxation and health.  Don’t even ask me why, I have no idea.  I’m sick right now, and am having trouble forming coherent sentences, in case you couldn’t tell.

What I’m trying to get at is that scents are total moodlifters, even when you can’t smell them.  And here are some brand-new, happy-making scents from Victoria’s Secret. Continue reading

Rouge Bunny Rouge: Now Available in the US!

This is a prescheduled post.  I will be out of town until Tuesday 4/14 on mysterious business.

Ok fine, I’m visiting schools.  In a mysterious fashion.

I love it when overseas brands come to the US (I’m still holding out for Liz Earle), so I was thrilled to hear that Rouge Bunny Rouge will now be available in the US through Beautyhabit!  To celebrate the launch, Beautyhabit is offering this GWP, good through 4/25 or while supplies last.

Have you tried anything from Rouge Bunny Rouge?  I’ve heard their shadows are fantastic,  but I’m still on the beauty ban.  Dream about them all the time though.  That’s normal, right?

Hope you’re having a good weekend!
