OOTD: It’s Friday and I’m a Daisy

The other day, I saw this cute OOTD post from the lovely Maggie of The Polka-Dotted Jellyfish, and I was like dayum OOTDs are awesome.  Nice intro, huh?  You can tell I’m writing this after a very long Friday, I’m sure.

You like my super profressional camera-phone-bathroom-mirror photo?

I happened to be standing in front of a mirror with my phone in my pocket today, and thought I might as well take a picture.  In one of my rare epiphanic moments, I realized that yellow, white, and green in my outfit reminded me of a certain flower.  Get it?  It’s a daisy.  And today is Friday.  Hence the title: “It’s Friday and I’m a Daisy.”

In other news, I love belts and shoes with extra height, both of which I’m wearing here.  I have a long torso, and just one of the above can make my body seem much more proportionate.  It’s magical.

Hope you have a restful long weekend!  It’s time for me to cook dinner, I’m thinking something as low-effort as possible.  Crustless quiche?

OOTD: Not Spring

It’s not spring.  Not.

I feel so cheated of winter this year (something I say every year).  Where did my solid 3 months of cold weather and beautifully dreary skies go?

One of my closest friends was in town for spring break today, and we met up for a very delicious lunch.  She was appropriately dressed in a t-shirt and shorts.  I should learn from her, because even though it is borderline insanity to wear boots and tights on a 90+ degree day, I did it anyways.  Living in my own world, I tell you.

But can you blame me for wanting to wear these shoes?  I call them my Legolas boots: Continue reading

Jewelmint Haul & Brief Review

If you’re wondering what Jewelmint is, here’s an overview I did awhile back.

Now this post is mostly for Larie, who declared, “Pictures or it didn’t happen!”  So, here you go, Larie!  Enjoy!

Yes, that is me sitting atop a Jewelmint box.

I originally purchased the Aurum necklace, which was just as gorgeous as it looked on their website.  However, the second I took it out of the box, the chains tangled up, and I foresaw a lot of unnecessary chain detangling if I were to wear it.  So back it went, and I sat patiently in wait for something even better to come ambling by.

I have to admit, I wasn’t sure if I would like the Bird Cage Bangle when I first saw it online.  But the unique design, plus the fact that I was getting a sweet deal on 24K gold-plated jewelry ($8.99 with the promo code and free shipping), finally sold me.

At some point, I’ll do an outfit post so you can get a feel of what this looks like on, but here’s what the Bird Cage Bangle looks like alone (this shot does not do it justice):

I absolutely love this.  It has a nice weight and is extraordinarily well made for the price tag.  I don’t think I’ve gotten so many compliments on a piece of jewelry since my dragon ring.  I dropped by the mall over the weekend, and a couple of SAs stopped their sales pitches midway to gawk at my bracelet.  Not kidding.

Keep in mind that you probably won’t be able to get it for $8.99 right now, but I believe there are lot of 50% off codes floating  around for first time users, which would mean $15 with free shipping.

I read some reviews online that said the 2 and 3/8″ opening was too small, so I was initially worried that I would encounter the same issue.  My hands and wrists are normal, not tiny, but I was able to slip this on and off no problem.  If it does happen to fit tight on you, I’ve heard of people slipping it onto their hands over a plastic bag, so you could always try that.

One last thing I want to address is that their customer service is very accommodating.  Don’t expect speedy replies, as I have a feeling they get inundated with mail, but they are definitely helpful.  Both times I emailed them, I felt that the person on the other end genuinely wanted to make my Jewelmint experience a positive one.

On a sidenote, if you like the look of the Bird Cage Bangle and want to buy it, the best way to find it is through google, as it may or may not be in your Showroom (depending on the results of your style quiz).

And that about wraps it up!  Here is my referral link, if you would like to use it: http://jmnt.me/rgCkPE

Picture Time: F21 Pearl Ring

I decided that I would like to talk about shiny things today.  Everyone ok with that?  Great!

Out of all the different types of jewelry, I probably buy rings the most.  You know why?  Because I constantly lose them, that’s why.  Necklaces stay on, bracelets stay on, screw-on earrings stay on…I take my ring off for one second, and never see it ever again.

Forever 21 has a really nice selection of budget rings.  I picked this one up for $3.80 the other week:

I couldn’t find the name, but I bought the peach and gold shade in a size 6.  One thing I’ve noticed is that Forever 21′s rings tend to run small.  Their 6 fits more like a 5 on me, so I wear this on my ring finger instead of my third finger.

What are some of your favorite places to shop for jewelry?  Do you like statement rings, or do you prefer to keep it simple?

Impromptu

The brown sandals I’ve been wearing lately actually belong to my mom (Aerosoles Hedge Maple in Tan Leather).  I…erm…freed them from her closet.  In my defense, they really looked like they needed some fresh air.

It took about a week for her to notice, but only a minute to reclaim them.  She told me to get my own brown sandals.  What happened to sharing is caring?

Aerosoles Bora Bora in Tan Leather

I happened to have some store credit, so I payed $18 out-of-pocket.  Not bad at all.

You might recognize the shoes from my header image.  I had an impromptu ‘photo shoot’ the other day.  If you can even call it that.

One white sheet draped over a fence = extremely basic, DIY, large-scale infinity background!

Hope you’re having a good weekend so far :D
