The Lipstick Bandits are back! And this time, we have additional recruits.
Our new task was to find one favorite fall lipstick, and share it with the world. This may sound easy enough, but trying to choose a single lipstick for this post was incredibly difficult (either I have too many lipsticks, or I have issues. I think it’s a combination of both…)
After much hemming and hawing, I finally settled on an old favorite: Laura Mercier Stick Gloss in Courtisane. This little tube of goodness entered my life in a brown bubble mailer, courtesy of the wonderful Cat from Strawberry Mochi.
Sephora describes this shade as a ‘mauve rose.’ I’m sorry, but they are incorrect.
Courtisane is a sheer, brick red with an overlay of rose-gold shimmer. It’s gorgeous, wearable, and completely unique. It makes me think of ripe apples and golden sunshine on autumn leaves (it’s entirely possible that I have a hyperactive imagination when it comes to lipstick shades. I can’t help myself).
The color is on the sheer side, but easily buildable. Thanks to the incredibly lightweight formula, I can comfortably wear 2-3 coats. It glides on like a balm, and is very forgiving on dry lips. I usually combine it with lipbalm out of habit, but it’s one of the most moisturizing lipsticks I’ve ever used.

And another, to show the beautiful finish. The color is a little bit washed out here:
So to sum up, Courtisane is my must-have lipstick for fall! I love my traditional berry reds as well, but this one’s great for days when I want a little extra warmth in my face. It’s subtle enough for everyday wear, but has enough character (can a lipstick have character? Am I just very tired and not making any sense?) to pair beautifully with subtle makeup, which is usually all I have time for.
Sephora sells these at $20 a tube, but I believe Cat is selling one for $10 right now. What’s that you say? I’m being an enabler? *shifty eyes*
What’s your favorite fall lipstick?

MUST HAVE! Love this! It’s so effortless and chic looking. Thanks for sharing this little gem! 😉
No problem, thanks for sharing your favorite lipstick! My lip product wish list pretty much exploded today 😛
You are an enabler indeed! That shade is gorgeous and perfect for fall! Must check it out soon..
hahaha, my apologies to your wallet! Let me know what you think if you end up trying this out 🙂
Pretty!!!!! I love this one! It does have character, indeed. I wonder if LM lipsticks are paraben-free? *shifty eyes*
Whew, glad that makes sense to you. And yes, from what I could see on Sephora’s website, they are! Go forth and splurge!
You know, I was a bit “meh” about it when I saw the swatch, but it looks GORGEOUS on the lips!
It definitely comes to life on the lips (what a weird sentence hahah, I’m just completely incoherent today).
Eee! This one’s quite different from the rest of ours, isn’t it? But I love it all the same 😉 Pretty pretty!
I was actually trying to choose between a plummy shade and this, but I just love warm, golden reds for fall. So I guess I will sit in the corner with my bandit mask on, playing with my odd-one-out lipstick 😛
Noooo *invades your corner* I wanna play too! That color makes me think of caramel apples
hahahah welcome to my corner! May I play with your Gloss d’Armani? 😀
Love it! It does look like apples on leaves! I don’t have a LM lipstick-yet!
Yay, I’m not the only one who saw that connection! *nudges you toward the LM counter*
Such a lovely shade, you definitely are an enabler! x
hahah, I try my best! Loved the Sleek Pout Polish you chose 🙂
Very pretty! You know I approve of anything Laura Mercier… and I like that you went a different route from the others. 🙂
hehe I wasn’t intentionally being a rebel! btw I’m a little slow at getting to the post office. I’ll try to get it out this week, but I’m sorry if I don’t >.<
Don’t worry – nobody’s in a rush!
Oooh this DOES remind me of ripe apples and autumn leaves. Soo gorgeous for fall and much more easy to wear!
Yay! I was worried that my extreme tired-ness would make everything come out nonsensical. It is very easy to wear, usually when I wear plummy/berry lips, I feel like I have to balance it out with some eyeliner at least. This goes fine with just a swipe of mascara.
Oh my I wasn’t expecting this colour but I love how it looks! It also looks perfect for warm weather which means I’d probably get more wear out of it (there’s no need to justify this purchase is there?) 😉
LOL no need to justify at all! And agreed, I love that I can wear this all year round.
Yes ma’am you ARE being an enabler. Darn you, woman. 🙂 Love this color on you.
I have to admit, I do enjoy it! Thanks 🙂
